Scoliosis is commonly thought of an S shaped curvature of the spine. Scoliosis is a very complex spinal deformity that can involve the neck, the head, the upperback, the mid back, the lower back and even the pelvis. Depending on the age of the patient and symptoms, treatment can vary from observation, to physical therapy, to injections to bracings to surgical intervention.
This patient, M.F., had been suffering with increasing back pain and increasing curvature to her back. She has two young children and was in her late thirties. She has been to chiropractic care, injections and even tried anti-inflammatories, but her pain continued to worsen. After about 10 years of suffering, she decided to get her life back. She underwent a posterior spinal scoliosis surgery at a local Long Island Hospital. And although she had pain for about 2 to 3 weeks post operatively, I am happy to say that she is doing fantastic. She is back to life without any restrictions and is pain free.
